A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Carlos Ferreira has been with us for 5 years and serves as our band and choir director. Carlos’ work in church music began as a pianist at the historic First African Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia, a position he held for 7 years. During this time, he also played at various other churches and events in the Savannah area, including the Martin Luther King Celebration. Classically trained, he studied piano privately with Paul Fisher, Diane Gardner at Savannah Arts Academy, and Kevin Hampton at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Carlos brings a heartfelt approach to music and believes that music plays one of the most important roles in a service as it ushers people into God’s presence and prepares them for His word.
